The real fashion statement of summer: BBQ aprons

There are only two articles of fabric we really care about come summertime, bikinis and barbecue aprons. We could sit here and talk bikinis all day, or better yet we could show you pictures of them. We're not going to do that- at least not in this post.

Wait! Don't leave! You can read about bikinis anytime, how often do you get the opportunity to appreciate the apron? It is the forgotten accessory of summer, but it is a vital one.

An apron is a great way to express oneself. It can be covered in beer bottles or kittens, crude jokes or sweet sentiments. The possibilities are endless. The BBQ Guys have a few examples below:

Bondi Swim: the swimsuits to be seen in

Unless you look like Angelina Jolie circa 1999, it can be hard to get excited about swimsuits, and exposing so much naked flesh to the beach/world. But if we did get worked up about hot new swimwear, we would be tipping designers Damion Fuller and Fern Levack (aka: design house Hot Bondi Swim) as the people to watch.

The talented Aussie couple showed their swimwear designs at Rosemount Australian fashion week for the first time this year, and to their surprise, they have been asked to show in Miami in July as well -- one of only twenty design teams to receive an invite. "My immediate reaction was to pour a good stiff drink!" Fuller told Australian Vogue.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo with a shirt

Hola, nuestros amigos, hoy es mayo quinto. ¿Por qué no celebrar por el estilo?

That's right, we just dropped Spanish on your ass. We're pretty sure we said, "Hello, our friends, today is May 5th. Why not celebrate in style?" However, we could have been telling you about the pencil we had for lunch. It's a tricky language.

Sustainable style must-haves

Anya Hindmarch's Men and women alike can be sustainably stylish. Here are the must-haves:

1. The reusable bag. It doesn't have to be Anya Hindmarch's bag you see at right (which we've all seen about enough of, frankly), but re-usable bags are eco-friendly and can say a lot about you. You read? Get one at a bookstore. In fact, you probably already have one. They're called tote bags. Use them when you go to the farmer's market (or the drug store) and feel good about yourself.

Jesus got a lousy t-shirt

Easter is nigh and it's time to offend or be offended. Candy and punch will be served.

Previously I shared with you what I thought was the best Easter shirt ever. It probably is. The shirts I'm featuring today, from David and Goliath and Splitreason, respectively, are a bit more, for lack of a better word, extreme. So why am I sharing them if they're so offensive? Why didn't I just stick with the chocolate bunnies? Well, the thing is, you can't please everyone, and while some will hate others will laugh. Besides, don't you think chocolate bunnies were offended from that last shirt? It's all relative.

The shirt pictured above (David & Goliath, you remember them) really hit home. It's actually a shirt within a shirt. You see, Jesus is wearing a t-shirt on the t-shirt, and it is on his shirt that the message is printed. The message is the part that hit home, not the whole shirt within a shirt part. That wouldn't make any sense.

The message reads, "My dad created the universe and all I got was this lousy t-shirt." I must have had a dozen of these when I was a kid. Of course, my parents didn't create the universe, but they went places like Vegas where these shirts were readily available right in the airport. I was a walking lousy billboard of places my parents had traveled without me or a decent souvenir.

Hey, am I bitter? This is like therapy.

So with nothing further ado, I give you shirts that will make you laugh or cause you to cast me into eternal hellfire. I hope you laugh.

Get Irish, quick!

Today, as you probably know, is St. Patrick's Day. This is the day that it's okay to embrace stereotypes and get totally drunk in public- the earlier the better!

There are a lot of ways to show your love for the Irish. While I can't recommend green beer I can definitely drink support numerous pints of Guinness. It's good, and it's good for you. (Don't drink and drive!)

Another way to get in the mood is the classic t-shirt. There are tons of them all over the internet. I decided to share some from Zazzle, a site that lets you create your own custom shirt. Granted, it's too late to order any of these shirts for tonight, but if you really cared about celebrating St. Paddy's you'd be drunk by now and not surfing the web anyway, so the point is moot.

I chose the "Get Drunk with Eliot" shirt because it's timely and possibly offensive, which is something that tends to be appreciated in a bar full of intoxicated people pinching each other. Not that I would know about that sort of thing.

Here are a few others that I thought in/appropriate:

Have a fun, safe St. Paddy's!

Be a stylish Irish (or wannabe) on March 17

It isn't always easy being green (as evidenced by the model to the right), but St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, so you'd better check your closet now and see what you have to wear. Go ahead. I'll wait.

Nothing, you say? Nothing green at all! Oh, dear!

Well, don't sweat it. Even if green isn't your color, you have to wear something in that hue on March 17, and I've got looks for ladies and fellas and even a few little tykes. As long as you've followed our rules, these items should work well for you. The main thing that I must stress is this: If you wouldn't wear it on any other day, don't wear it for the holiday. If you hate green and never wear it, don't go out in a green dress. Instead, find some accessories, like jewelry or a scarf in your hair, that will ward off the pinchies without sacrificing your personal style.

But please, unless you actually are Irish (and, even if you are), avoid the "Kiss Me, I'm Irish" tees unless you find something incredibly clever. It's just so cliche.

5 rules to follow for a stylish St. Patrick's Day

Sometimes, it's hard to know where to draw the line between fashionable festive and festively flawed.

Don't worry, though -- Styledash is here to guide you through the intricacies of this celebrated Irish holiday. Everyone can find a way to wear green that suits them, but there are some serious faux pas you'll want to avoid if you want to make the St. Paddy's Most Stylish list for 2008.

This St. Patrick's Day, ward off pinches with green kicks

I painfully remember the year I forgot to wear green on St. Patrick's Day. I was in junior high, and it was miserable -- my maiden name was Green, so I thought maybe I'd get away without getting pinched, but no such luck. I came home with little red marks all over, and decided I would never go a St. Patty's without getting festive again.

However, I don't like wearing a bright green shirt or anything like that on the actual day -- I never like to dress just like everyone else -- so I look for shamrock-hued accents to serve my purpose. And, what better accent is there than brightly colored shoes?

I love these by Puma -- they actually have a lucky pot of gold included. But, if you're pretty sure you'll get lucky anyway, you might want to opt for some different kicks that better suit your style. Check out the gallery for some Irish inspiration! But hurry -- the pinching begins March 17!
